We’re thrilled to share the success of the TUI Future Shapers Launch Event held in Tunisia on January 31st, 2024! This event marked the beginning of an exciting journey for young women in Tunisia, as they embark on a path of personal and career development through the TUI Future Shapers – Youth Peer Mentoring for Impact program.
Tunisia, where female youth comprise just a quarter of the workforce, faces significant challenges in youth unemployment and skill development. In response, Mentor Arabia, in collaboration with the TUI Care Foundation, has launched a transformative initiative to equip young women with the tools they need to thrive in the workforce.
Through peer-to-peer mentorship, we aim to bridge the gap in soft skills and entrepreneurship training, empowering young people to make informed career decisions and lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
Throughout September, Mentor Arabia enthusiastically focused on recruiting exceptional women who have not only secured employment in their respective fields but have also become success stories in their own right. Between October 23 and 27, a five-day comprehensive workshop occurred where our chosen mentors honed their skills in mentoring, life skills, and peer education. This training was instrumental in ensuring top-notch support for our mentees.
The recent launch event on January 31st introduced the mentors to their mentees through a set of interactive activities. These activities, slightly competitive in nature (by forming teams and gaining points) allowed the participants to get to know one another and bond over mutual interests. Such tactic also ensured that the matching between mentor and mentee was more than satisfactory. The event also set the stage for an entrepreneurship competition, supporting Tunisian women entrepreneurs in launching startups that align with TUI’s presence in various travel destinations.
As we move forward, these 20 trained peer mentors will implement peer-to-peer mentoring sessions, enriching the lives and skills of 200 mentees over 10 weeks.
