Mentor Arabia in collaboration with UNCIEF Lebanon has developed the “Youth Peer Mentors” program, utilizing a “peer to peer” model to implement a variety of mentorship activities with the objective of easing youth’s transition to work, increasing academic retention, and empowering youth to make healthy choices and informed career decisions. The YPM program was piloted in 4 geographic regions in Lebanon “Beirut, North, Mount Lebanon and Beqaa” for one year, from 15 September 2017 to 15 September 2018.

Young people can be overwhelmed by the transition into the workforce. Decisions made during their teenage years can affect future career prospects as well as self-esteem. The risks inherent in this phase are exacerbated in the case of vulnerable youth and victims of displacement. Providing inspiration and motivation for learning are important protective factors against any feelings of marginalization.
