First Edition

During Kuwait’s 2016 Gala Dinner, the distribution of the Youth Social Entrepreneurs Award for young activists and influencers, who have a positive impact on human and social development among youth process, was held where the chairman of the award committee, known Media Leader Mr. Ricardo Karam, defined the importance of the award and its first launch in the Arab world in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen.

The Egyptian writer Esam Yousif and Saudi university professor Dr. Siham Al Suaiyegh presented the award to the winner of the female category, Ms. Lujain Al-Ubaid, a young Saudi woman who participated in the “Harvard” school program for business women’s leadership, as well as executive education program at the College of “Columbia”. Lujain was accepted in the Fellowship Organization “acumen” program in the United States, a charitable voluntary organization which invests in ideas to tackle poverty. She studied poverty problems and searched for solutions. She worked in “India”, where poverty is widespread, and more than 50% of the population is under the age of 25 years. Currently working as CEO of a social project dedicated to empower vulnerable groups and help them develop their life skills, and teach them English language.

The famous TV presenter Zaven and the executive director of Mentor Arabia Mrs. Thuraya Ismail Al-Ansari, presented the award to the winner of the male category, Mr. Chaker Khazaal, a young Palestinian Canadian, who was born in a refugee camp in Lebanon. Chaker works as a reporter and speaker, and writer in the Huffington Post. He wrote the best-seller novel “Confessions of a child of war”. He traveled to the refugee camps and conflict zones to inspire refugees as a vivid example for them. Ascended the United Nations platforms in New York, and Google Inc. in San Francisco, the International Conference for Youth in Bahrain, and the Thomson Reuters Foundation in London, and launched the Arab Youth Survey views in Dubai. Chaker Also runs a program that allows refugees and migrants to work in remote areas of e-marketing, graphic drawing, and management of social media. In 2015, awarded by Esquire Middle East magazine Man of the Year title in 2016, and Arabian Business Magazine ranked him first in the list of the 100 most powerful Arab under the age of 40.
