Mentor Arabia Charity Iftar

Mentor Arabia organized a Ramadan Charity Iftar at the Phoenicia Hotel in Beirut on 3July 2015. The event was held in partnership with the National Program for DrugPrevention under the patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs, Mr. Rachid Derbass, and was attended by HRH Prince Abdul AZIZ Bin Turki Bin Talal al Saoud.

Mentor Arabia organized a Ramadan Charity Iftar at the Phoenicia Hotel in Beirut on 3July 2015. The event was held in partnership with the National Program for DrugPrevention under the patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs, Mr. Rachid Derbass, and was attended by HRH Prince Abdul AZIZ Bin Turki Bin Talal al Saoud.

The attendees included numerous celebrities and media people, such as singers Sabah and Anas Fakhri, famous actor Kays Al Sheikh Najeeb and the well know media person Mr. Zaven Kuyoumdjian. Additoanlly, prominent social; political and diplomatic figures attended the Iftar including Minister of Interior Mr. Ziad Baroud , Canadian consular Mr. Hisham Ismail, Mr. Ziad Jurdi director of drug fighting department at Lebanese customs, and Mr Yahya Shatila as representative of Director General of the Internal Security Forces. Also, famous presenter Mr. Jospeh Howayek shined at the event as master of ceremony.

Mrs. Thuraya Ismail, Mentor Arabia’s Executive Director, was first on the podium to welcome the guests, and then talk about the importance of drug prevention, especially at an early age; as well as the Foundation’s various projects and programs. HRH Prince Abdulaziz then spoke about the gravity of the drug problem in the Middle East and the importance of teamwork when tackling such a phenomenon; stressing on the fact that all sectors of society should come together in facing this issue.

The Minister of Social Affairs, represented by Mrs. Amira Naser Eddine, head of the National Program for Drug Prevention, spoke about the history of the National Program and the need for governmental and non-governmental institutions to work together in the fight against drugs. She also spoke about the memorandum of understanding the National Program signed with Mentor Arabia in 2014 and their cooperation.

Twenty students from the Bourj International School Choral headed by Mr. Malek Naseef then took the stage and gave a touching performance; singing various Ramadan inspired songs.

Renowned Lebanese media personality Mr. Zaven Kuyoumdjian and famous Syrian actor Mr. Kays Al Sheikh Najeeb each gave a short speech on the importance of NGO work and the noble cause Mentor Arabia works for, stating that in addition to financial support, foundations such as Mentor Arabia need moral support.

The event ended with a raffle draw, and gifts were handed to the winners.
